He is the only brother of Finnish linguist Pekka Sammallahti.. He taught at the Art and Design University in Helsinki for 17 years. Pentti Sammallahti is a benchmark figure in contemporary Finnish photography. His works depict nature eroded and broken down by civilization, but he does not put man Pentti Sammallahti: Summertime embraces the photographer’s famously peripatetic spirit by including images from almost every continent that capture the unique atmosphere of season.

It covers more than forty years of work and unfolds in almost as many countries. Born in 1950 in Helsinki, Finland, from 1971 Sammallahti began to exhibit extensively in Finland and throughout the world. Pentti Sammallahti was born in 1950 in Helsinki, Finland.
